Artist's Comments
This is my great-grandfather on my mother's side, Eugene Albert Tetreault, taken in the 1920-1930s.
Grandpa T was born in 1907, and died in 1998. He was fairly influential in my life, as I spent the majority of my time up north in Chazy and Plattsburgh with my grandparents and my great-grandparents. His wife, Mabel ("Nana") died in 1980 of cancer, and Grandpa T came to live with my grandparents for a time, then he moved back to the family farm and lived with his youngest son until his death in 1998.
He was bilingual, worked as a carpenter and for nearly 50 years worked at Parker's Sugarbush making maple syrup. He also ran a large dairy farm.
He was a cantor at St. Joseph's and a devout Catholic, Vatican I.
There are some times that I miss him, as I always do miss most of my family that has passed on.
